I know there was a thread here about electric pianos (and the Privia) a while back but I thought I'd open a new one anyway.

I played an hour on the new Casio Privia PX-3 ($799). I wasn't as knocked out as I thought I would be. The action was very "heavy"....the notes thin-sounding. Hardly any sounds on it other than "grand piano." No "rhythm" background. etc

So now I'm realizing they got me again and I forgot the first rule of trying out a keyboard. Don't believe anything a salesman says and always remember they don't know enough about what you're playing to say anything anyway! I should have figured the whole thing out myself instead of relying on a salesperson to “know!”

I found out the "action" is adjustable "heavy" to "light." There are MANY sounds and MANY various acoustic pianos. There's a rhythm section with styles. The thin sound is probably because I forgot to EQ it on the amp.

I'm thinking of buying it. Are any of you playing a Privia or have experiences and comments on it? It appears to be great bang for the buck. I'm sure there are glitches in it, but I think it would make a good "stage piano."
