hi all

Apologies for my previous alcohol induced rant.

The advice to get a G70 was absolutely spot on. My SMFs pretty much worked straight out of the box - all my previous discover5 edits were recognised by the G70 (except they sounded MUCH better). It was a breeze to use live, and sounded absolutely fantastic. I was absolutely blown away, as were the audience and my fellow musicians. the interesting thing for me, was that I had absolutely no feedback issues, and everything seemed to have more 'air' than before. I also got away with turning the wick right up - without ANY complaints. Should have done it years ago. BTW, I paid £1000 on 12mths interest free credit. Added my SRX brass board, and had great fun playing along to the likes of celebration, let's go round again, midnight hour etc.

A truly awesome board, should have bought it years ago..

Nick

Congratulations on your new instrument, Nick...glad to hear it meets all your needs.

The G-70 is a fine arranger.

For that price there ain't anything available that comes even close to the G70.

No doubt the G70 is a very good arranger. It is one of the two on my most wanted list. Getting it for £1000 is a real bargain. The best price I have found so far is 1450euro, and with sales tax that is a bit too much for me. But I am not in an awful hurry, so I am sure I will find something.

Don't buy it from merchants, buy it from other musicians. That takes a whole chunck of the price tag. And when buying this way you don't need to pay sales tax.

Bachus! You are absolutely right. I got my Ketron SD1 from a musician, and some of my best instruments I have found on forums. But I live in Norway, and the supply is limited. But even when I buy used from the US, I save a lot of money. Something will turn up, sooner or later.

Glad you are enjoying it, TM...

I presume you have already found Roland-arranger.com which has a large Tips and Tricks section, many articles on gigging operation, and just a trove of handy suggestions on how to get the most from your ancient relic (be prepared to be the butt of many members' jokes here, as unfamiliar with G70's as most are )..?

If you have any specific questions on Roland operation, please post them there, as there are MANY knowledgeable members there that don't post here. Usually, SOMEONE can come up with the answer to most problems.

Glad you found one in good condition at an affordable price. Enjoy.
