Our band did a weekend gig at a very small bar (we're a 5 piece). Having looked the place over prior, I opted to bring just one amp to try and keep the set up space and "squeeze" to a minimum.
In smaller venues we don't, as a rule DI through the front end.
Normally, I will use my Rick TR35B(15") for all keys, and I use a Fender 112 Deluxe (90 watt) for guitar. I chose to bring just the fender, thinking it would handle everything just fine. Although power wise, there was no problem, the single 12" just didn't have the bottom that I normally desire for piano and particular for a lot of the synth (T3) work.
The next night I brought along my Rick and the sound I wanted was there once again.

Yes, the 15" does provide you more bass than a 12" ...
This time you let the two girls at home? I guess that must be the reason that you've played on such a small location. No girls - no visitors...*LOL*

No, just kidding...
Siriously, I guess you didn't gig with the many costumes, did you?
I think the location was too small for such a big show...

I hope that your enjoyment came back with the Rick...

A little insight for you...
I'm actually in two (2) bands.
The showband "The Waybacks"(that's the big one) has six people + two front end production people (sound & lights).

The other band "Consenting Adults" is the Bar/Pub (5 piece)R&R band (No costume changes, no stage production, and everybody's a roadie.

So, that I know that I've confused some things, I also know now that I wasn't totally wrong - you didn't wear your 'fat bastard' outfit...

Thank you for your information!
Now I would also tend to guess that there's nobody in your R&R band who sang 'R&R lalleby' with you, isn't it?
Yes, I still hear and enjoy this song. It's a good distraction from my daily little sorrows...

I would really like to hear some songs from your R&R band - the Consenting Adults!!!

Rock & Roll Lullabye was when I was with a Rock-a-pella quartet called Cornerstone. We came out with one CD entitles "No Strings Attached"....long before that Boy Band came out with a cd under the same title.
That was back in the early 90's.
As for "Consenting", yes, I want to get some demo's out there as a promo tool. We've got a very strong following, and a lot of gigs lined up, but a good demo cd will open up so many more opportunities.
Getting back to the amp subject, it's not worth sacrificing the sound quality to try and save space, at least not for me.
So...for sure...wherever I go...my Rick will go too!!!

Oops!? Sorry for my wrong typing of Rock'n'Roll Lullabye! It was late here in Frankfurt when I was typing it. It must be one of my last posts last night...
Nevertheless it's a very nice song. I hear it nearly every day! Really!!!
...unless I'm composing...
