Thanks for the link, Scott.

Peter does a fantastic job.

Thanks! What chops that guy has. Several times he contrasts voices in the T4 with the voices that were originally in the T3. You can hear the difference for sure.

I heard, however, that people cannot distinguish the new SA2 piano from the T3 piano.

Thanks for the heads up Scott,One of the better demos.
Did you notice how great the single finger cords sounded so full.He used a nice mix of both full and single finger Showing even the novice player could make good sounding music from this board.

Gilbert.

Who was complaining about those piano sounds?

Awesome performance by peter Baartmans espescially his Michel Voncken immitation at the end

Now he's got me wondering how freeplay styles ought to work?

Also check out these demo's :

It didn't get my attention....till the combo stuff..New York state of mind..and Tea for two....That did sound great,,,

The orchestral stuff is ok for a wow factor demo..but is overdone and not practical on stage (limited use..maybe)..

I prefer the same band combo for a more realistic approach on stage...it sounds less artificial..

Tomorrow, we will have a chance to play the Tyros4 against the Audya....then we will better understand what is what...

For me with the on line demos so far..I have mixed feelings about the sound...I hear a lot of the same Tyros3...but Yamaha has added a new dimension (vocal sounds), I look forward to see if they are as playable as what I am use to on that other board

Bingo, Fran. That's exactly how I feel about the Tyros4. It's all about the stage perspective. However, I would see this as a huge seller for the home crowd.

You've hit the nail on the head there!

Professional keyboarders are a dying breed

The BIG market is the Home market where dreamers like me play their boards using the wonders of Yamaha Tyros 4 and others in their dens or front rooms and enjoy being in a state of stupor.
We play and dream all the time hearing the amazing sounds we are producing with no effort )
We listen to Peter Baartmans and then sit down at the keyboard and pretend we are also fantastic artists.

Yes, that's why the theme of the new Tyros4 is...

Tyros4 –Hear the difference, play your dream!

That's also why other companies like Roland are making the VIMA instruments in lieu of TOTL/MOTL arrangers.

The home market is where the profits are greatest.

Then again, I'd really enjoy playing "live" gigs with a Tyros4...it's portable, has all the features you need for "live" play, and sounds fantastic.

In the words of John Lennon- "You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one."

Hi Ian
You are right! I hadn't realised that Yamaha had mentioned the 'Dreaming' aspect of the new board.
Looks as if I was a better Marketing man than I realised at the time !
