Good day fellow SZoners,

After a long time of reliable service, my classic Midjay is finally showing hard drive wear. It' is intermittently displaying "hard disk read error". So I think its time to replace/upgrade the h.d. I have a full backup of the h.d. btw.

My questions are before I open it:

What kind of hard drive it has?
Can I replace it with a larger capacity like 80g or more?
What is best way to replace the h.d.?

I appreciate any info.

Regards to all.
Jimmy

I believe ATA laptop hard drive (at least that is what all of the other ketron's are).

Do you have the Midjay 1 or plus? I'm not sure if the new hard drive will read anything larger than what's already installed, 20 gig. That was one of the reasons why the plus was released. Also be very very carefull on how you instal the ribbon cable with the correct config of pins (1-44. if not you will burn out the hrd drive controller board.

AJ or Dan01 would know better.

I have the MidJay 1. I started to search on the web for ATA 20G and there are still some available.
Thanks for the info MC.

Jimmy
