How do they compare to the onboard sounds?

From a KORG point of view they sound fine, but it's not something I'd be looking to buy as the keyboards already got all this covered.

The Shakuhachi sound however is the same as one I uploaded to KORG Forums ages ago in M3 and OASYS format for free. The original sound comes from an Emulator and was heavily used by the Band Enigma who made this factory preset famous world wide.

This is a well known sound and it's available for free from countless websites.

good sounds, but my Tyros 2 has most of them if not all well covered, and they are simply too expensive. 99 euros for a pack of 10 sounds is a lot of money, unless the sounds were spectacular, not just good. With that money I can buy, right now, a monster sample library like Yellow Tools Independence, which I have already.
That's 70 gb of jaw-dropping sounds. Ok it's for computers, but still. The guys at Orgelstudio make good sounds but they should offer more value....
even better, Yamaha should implement a sampler that reads Akai libraries, not that wav stuff.
Overall I am pretty impressed with the T2, though. I know it's not the latest Tyros but I don't care, I never buy new because by the time you upgrade you lose a lot of money.

Speaking of the samples, I was more impressed with the samples from James at Irishacts. They sound more polished, with more attention to detail. I would definitely prefer his samples.
