What do you use to clean the contacts on your synth? One of my styles buttons on my SD1 has to be pressed very firmly before it responds. I've cleaned it once with Precision Electronics Cleaner from Radio Shack and it worked well for about a month, but I'm having more problems with it now. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Gene, I've used the exact same product for a similar problem button on Tyros 1 & 2 and it worked great, but I did notice that shooting a 2nd application a couple of days later, has kept the problem from returning for over a year now. - Scott

I've never used anything but compressed air on my synths. I've always felt that any type of liquid would eventually produce an unwanted residue. I do, however, use electronic cleaners on non-moving parts such as circuit boards, etc. It also helps to use a dust cover. A towel or anything will do. Don't buy one. If it must look nice, if you or your wife sews, you can custom make one for about a bucks worth of material.

Gene, if the buttons are problematic a little while after cleaning, it may be that the actual contacts under the button are losing their 'springiness', for want of a better word. Best to get the dodgy ones replaced before they fail on a gig - Murphy's Law, and all that. This may even be a d-i-y job. I'm sure some of the resident Ketron guys can chime in on this one for you.

The key is to SELL the thing before it gets dirty and get a NEW one!
