Are they workable with the new OS? They were here on Synthzone to download for the 3.0 version, so does that make them innacurate for the 4.0?

This is Cakewalk I am referring to of course.

The Instrument definitions are for the Cakewalk/Sonar, so you can control and edit your tracks with the easy access to the banks and sounds from the PC.
The OS 3.0 b/c or 4.0a /4.0b(soon to be release), is only for the keyboard, so you will have "new" features, etc. I hope it help you.

Yes they work for SD 4.0a too, however: in 4.0a a handful sounds do have another patch number in the GM banks A - C.

I think the .ins files published here are the ones I sent once to Nigel. So I
will send him the upgrade to SD1 4.0a for free distribution, if he wants so.

If by chance there is an error in the files I would appreciate a mail to hrh@swissonline.ch as I'm on holidays and cannot access the forum.

This is simply because Microsoft decided to detect the .INS filetype as an Internet settings file despite the fact that Cakewalk had been using that filetype for many years ... ho hum ... So you will need to right click on the file and select "Save As" rather than just left clicking. This will let you save the .INS file into your Cakewalk folder or wherever you like without invoking the file association with .INS files. Another Microsoft blunder. I use Microsoft products daily but sometimes I wonder about some of their decisions.
