Does anyone have an opinion on the VA7?
Is it any good?
I went to the Roland web site and heard the online Demo.
If you like singing Do Whaps, then fine.
But, it doesn't seem to have the same power as the arranger EM 2000 which it has replaced.

Anyway any coments?

Uncle Dave,
You mention that the VA7 has greatly improved Styles. But it seems that they are less flexible than the EM 2000.
I like to gradually build up my backing patterns (including drum tracks) so as to be more progressive and relistic. After seeing the specs of the VA7 it looks like it doesn't have this option.
Please advise if I,m wrong.
Also,do you think it was wise of Roland to replace the EM2000 with such a different instrument as the VA7.

Does anybody know for how much a VA7 goes in the states ? Non of the dealers around here has one in stock.

I agree with uncle Dave, the musician is the most important part but nobody can work without some good tools.

Uncle Dave, how many "Multi effects" can you use at the same time on the VA7? (like phaser on track 1, distortion on 2, flanger on 3, Rotary on 4) that makes four. Can the above example be achieved on the VA7?

I ask this, because I have a KN6000 that does 5 Multi-effects - before you start taking chorus, reverb, digital effect into consideration.

Also, what are the Choir"church" sounds - and strings like on the VA7? (I would use a keyboard like this for composing classical music, so would it have great Oboes, Flutes, Cello's, Violins, Strings - and a good piano of course.?

In other words, does the VA7 do the lot (as far as sounds are concerned). it is the Classical sounds of an orchestra that I'm mainly concerned about here. And can you record other Data into the variphrase section (like effects off cd's, drum loops etc). or is it just vocal sounds that are effective here.

Please note, I don't want a keyboard for performing, but for composing on.!

Also, what are the speakers like on the VA7?

thanks

J5

Thanks Dave. Pity about the Limited effects processor though, as this as got me thinking towards another model now - or maybe a sound module like the EMU 2000 orchestral.

When you want to compose orchestral sounds, and effects, then ONE just aint enough. maybe an external effects processor coupled up would do the trick?...at more expense...

You have the insert effects. many of them multi effects in addition to the main effects reverb chorus and delay. that is a mininum of 5 seperate effects. you can assign to the realtime parts. Nothing works better to record a professional song..Fran

Thans Dave & fran.

It is the Super Duper! Effects that I wanted really, as on the kn6000, I can use 5 DSP's and then the Chorus reverb, digital, multi, global etc. So If I got a VA7, maybe there would be a sound improvement (or would there be)?, but I would have to make a lot of adjustments to my effects - and be careful (Compromise in other words), and that's not what I wanted really from a "Top New" Keyboard like the Va7.

I think Roland should have put 2 or 3 DSP's on you know (proper DSP's), and I probably would be buying one tomorrow!!! - may still consider it....when it comes down in price a wee bit.!!
