A new Zip drive for the VA-76 is far too expensive. Does cleaning help?

I read somewhere on th net that a standard PC Zip drive will work fine in the VA series, provided that it is the internal type of drive (not the portable version) & has an IDE interface (not SCSI). Internal zip drives should be fairly cheap to buy - possibly on Ebay?

My memory also says that wherever I read this also suggested that you could fit the Zip 250 drive as well as the Zip 100 drive that comes as standard, but I wouldn't like to guarantee that.

I just wish I could remember where I saw the article. I have a feeling that it was on the old Daytona Music RAG site & was contributed by a guy from the Netherlands who was well up on G1000s and VA series.
