DjNikolaos,
Some answers for you:
I just got a ketron vega, I love it, but i am confused when it comes to some things. I have some questions.
-What exactly is the vocalizer function?
>>>AJ: The vocalizer is an extra vocal processor that allows you to add harmonies and different algorithmic effects to your voice or any other instrument you plug into the MIC input. The software for this comes with the OS, but you will need to install the VOCALIZER chip circuit board prior to use.
-What exactly do people mean when they refer to styles?
>>>AJ: Styles are pre-arranged patterns/loops that can be controlled based on what chord you play on the keyboard (either to the left/right of the split point or on the entire keyboard). Some have been recorded with 'songs and tunes' in mind. In the VEGA, a style is made of 2 Drummers, 1 Bass and 5 Chord players ... and each one's instrument can be re-assigned!!
-Can the Vega use sounds from other Ketrons, or even other companies, or is it confined to use its own sounds?
>>>AJ: The Vega does not have a sampler that can open it to use of sounds from other manufactures and so is confined to just it's sounds or those developed by KETRON that can be added via the additional sound Flash chip. Some extra sound libruaries already exist for the Vega and XD9.
-Where can I find more and "better" sounds?
***(big question)- Can I change the sound on the lower 1/2 of the keyboard(in other words to the left of the split), For example, Have 2 lead sounds such as Kanun and oud, Kanun being on the left of the split and the oud being on the right?
>>>AJ: Yes you can change the LOWER sounds.
When playing, press ARRANGER VIEW (F5). Now LOWER1 and LOWER2 should correspond to F4 and F5. Press either one eg F4 and while LOWER 1 is highlighted (within 5secs.), press the voice GROUP (eg. STRINGS) to select the new voices you want to assign it to). If you want to save this voice permanently, press SAVE/ENTER and STYLE (F2) to save the style so that next time you call up this style, your LOWER1 voice will be rememberd.
-what is the diffrence between a normal preset and a user voice?
>>>AJ: A Preset is the voice with the factory settings (say attack, decay, sustain, release levels ... etc). If you make any changes to these settings and store the voice, it is now a User voice with YOUR settings.
-how can I access some of the secondary functions, like the ones printed in green?
>>>AJ: These functions depend on the screen you are in. The functions in BLACK are instantly accessed via the assoicated buttons, while the Green (LEAD) can be accessed while in SONG play mode to remove the lead part of the midi song or (LYRICS) again in Song Play mode to remove/display associated lyrics (where available) with a song.
thank you for your time
>>>AJ: You're welcomed!!
