Hi.

I recently bought a new PSR S900. I’ve had (and still have) a PSR 2000 for many years and have naturally done a lot of comparisons between the two. There are many differences but one that really stands out, and didn’t take me long to notice was that the new S900 is considerably quieter that the 2000! Is this normal, and if so why could this be?

With the master volumes both set at the same position and the style/voice settings the same, the 2000 is a good deal louder on all styles/voices. I don’t think there’s a fault with the S900 as it is loud enough but I have to have the master volume control quite a bit higher up to compensate. Both keyboards gave the same speaker wattage output.

Another thing to point out is that despite the 2000 being much older, it still sounds very good. I was surprised that it hadn’t dated quite as much as I thought. When I went from my PSR 2700 to the 2000 there was a much more noticeable difference. Although the S900 is an improvement over the 2000 there are still voices and styles that I preferred on the older model. I think this will always be the case with any “upgrade”.
