Hi Folks,

I have a chance of buying a Gem WK 2 module which I hope to use with my Midi accordion.
It's in new condition, still in box.

Any info etc on this module would be appreciated .
Can any demos be recommended.

Thanks

Frank

Hi Frank:

Happy New Year, now, talking about the Gem module, as you probably know, Gem has been out of business for a few years now....in fact I remember that was in a Winter NAMM where they gave to all the reps their pink slip. No parts in case you need some.

Anyway, I had some bad luck with GEM, if the OS goes, well, it does not matter if you buy it for a few dollars, plus the time invested, that is the end of it.
I should also remind you that is not to user friendly, that alone, would keep me away, no support from users, or maker....
I would consider other modules like Ketron, SD3, Audya4, Midjay Plus or even a Solton/Ketron Older model like the X4, XD3, Midjay, etc....this models you could buy them from a little UNDER $1,000.00 to around 2K. The older models if you need parts, you have a better chance to find parts, Operating system, styles, etc.
I just check in Ebay and that is what those are going for. But, that is only my opinion.
Good luck in your search.

Not much to break on a module, the GEM stuff are built like a tank, I have my WK8 for over 10 years, and nothing has happened every button works perfectly were as a KORG, forget about it, I don't want to get into it, if the module is a few hundred euro's buy it, get the person that is selling it to send you some audio mp3 demo's, this is my opinion although mdorantes does make some very good points in also haggling a bargain, I think I have a friend that has one of these if you can't find anything on it maybe I can ask him to send you something?

Good Luck! in whatever you decide.
