Converting a polyphonic MP3 to MIDI really isn't possible. This can only be done with monophonic tracks. You are best to find a MIDI arrangement of the track you are looking for. You won't be able to create it from an MP3 sorry to say.

The latest Melodyne can do polyphonic conversion to MIDI, but it doesn't really work on entire tracks, more like just piano parts, guitar parts, things like that. It's revolutionary, but STILL a very long way away from being able to transcribe a whole pop tune.

Hi

Please read http://www.skytopia.com/project/articles/mp3-to-midi.html

To my opinion: Waste of time!

Audio is the music while MIDI is the recipe for the audio.

An analogy: A cake can not be converted back into the ingredients in the recipe.

Jørgen

That's a very good analogy Jørgen that hits the nail on the head.

There IS software that can give you a chord chart from a whole tune, if that is what you might be interested in, though.
