Hi Group and AJ,

Would it be possible to convert the ketron FS6 pedal unit to work with my Generalmusic Genesys XP MODULE? Generalmusic has a six-function pedal listed as an accessory but for some reason it is not available in the US.

i do know that the GEM pedals use a single 1/4" jack. And theoretically 3 of these units could be hooked up to the Genesys (there are 3 jacks for pedals). I don't know KETRON'S configuration.

It is possible but you would need a schematic diagram from the folks at GEM.

Do you mean the schematic diagram for the Genesys XP, or a diagram for their pedal unit, and if one had the shcematic could you do this?

The schematic will tell what is inside the GEM pedal, and whether it is easy or very hard to convert.

The fact that there is only a single quarter-inch jack for 6 functions makes me worry that it may be more than simply changed wiring - there may be a microcontroller (a tiny computer) inside. I know Roland footswitch uses a 7 pin connector, and each switch makes contact between the common and one of the pins - that is easy to wire yourself. Not so with a single TRS connector for 6 functions.

If I were you, I'd look on Internet for one of the European GEM retailers, and order this switch from them.
