Here's yet another Korg Pa3X YouTube clip just uploaded of it played in a music shop in Romania. It also includes another guy playing a Korg Kronos, at least according to the YouTube clip description. They are playing a Manea style of music.
I can't figure out how these keyboards are already showing up in music shops before their official release date. Does Korg know/care about these Youtube clips? I also still can't figure out why nobody's recording via direct line out instead of simply thru the add on speaker.

Scott, I think these are just guys walking in a shop (or they work there?), turning on their $199.00 camcorder or Ipad and taking video of someone noodling around that does not have a clue as to what they are doing...Korg could do nothing about it if they wanted to, But, they know the boards are there.
YES, what are these PA3X's doing there?? I thought they were shipping in Late March/Early April? They are there, but nothing on KorgPA.com!
Something is very strange with Korg right now. IMHO.
I would expect that Korg doesn't imagine that anyone would be so stupid as to take amateur recordings of amateur presentations by people that have no familiarity with the gear (presumably, a rep is taking a demo unit around to get orders as far fewer go to the big trade shows these days) as a serious representation of the product....
Mind you, they may be unaware of the depths of our idiocy here at SZ!

Everyone likes to hear and see new products. It's fun if nothing else... We only have what we have. To formally announce a keyboard without all the necessary demos' and other support in place is just plain strange.
As I have been saying, like you Diki, we cannot go on what has been presented. Why annopunce if your not ready? Just to create some interest? I guess it has done that.
I will post after I get done talking to Korg USA today.

The idiocy has got nothing to do with 'us' at Synthzone. We've got inquiring minds and I would expect that to be a 'good' thing, and if not, God help us all. If there's been any idiocy at all, it's Korg's lack of interest in controlling and managing their 'pre release' product exposure better. The internet, vidcams, and YouTube, have revolutionized the world, so Korg had better realize this or lose out. Yamaha on the other hand was able to keep Tyros 4 under wraps until their official promo videos were up on YouTube.
That said, here are a couple of more Pa3x/Kronos videos shot in the same music shop. Though still recorded thru those unimpressive sounding Korg add on speakers (yuck), these vids have at least helped 'a little' to restore some confidence in the Pa3X. Interestingly enough, the demonstrator playing is wearing a "www.Korg.it" (Italy) shirt. Korg so desperately needs demonstrators on the level of Yamaha's Harris or Baartmans.
The idiocy is the constant anti Korg PA3x talk. Now lets start some anti Tyros 4 talk. The Tyros 4 with speakers looks like a plastic spaceship with ears that sound like a bad CD. Sorry Scott you asked for it.

Frans, my old SZ friend...so far, the demos of the Korg PA3X have been very unprofessionally done...why?
And Frans, not everyone will love the Tyros4's looks and sounds...that would be unrealistic to expect the instrument to please everyone.
It does, however, delight very many arranger players, as evidenced by it's sales, by the plethora of demos (both pro and amateur) that are on YouTube and the like, and the terrific and positive response by those who hear (and play) the instrument both in real life and on the 'Net.
What is strange as well, is that no one on SZ has been able to actually spend any amount of time on the PA3X, yet, we see quite a few videos of obvious amateurs playing it.
Certainly, I hope Korg gets their act together...this poor product release and presentation isn't doing them any good, and perhaps, is doing much harm.
Are you doing like me and saving up for your new instrument?
Hi Scott and others, the guy demoing the PA3X Pro is Raffaele Mirabella; he is an excellent player and he also works for Korg Italy but, as has been noted by Ian and others, is essentially a pianist; his chops can be appreciated in the following videos, where he is demoing a Kronos and I think that he does a very good job.
It has to be furthermore said that, while the Kronos demo was part of a tour officially sponsored by Korg Italy, the PA3X video looks and sounds like it was shot by someone with a cell phone, while Mirabella was simply playing the instrument for the store owner and a few attending clients, who don't even sound particularly interested, as can be inferred from their ongoing chattering. All this goes to show that, given today's technology, one has to be very careful when playing in public...

Fran, regarding the Tyros 4 speakers I totally agree. They look tacky, cheap, and sound crap, and over priced, and for that reason I opted out of buying them. Ok, how's that for honest straight forward anti Tyros 4 talk?
As far as the Korg Pa3x, I'm merely expressing my opinions based on facts at hand. If the Pa3X truly delivers more than what has been observed at Namm, I'll probably be 'in line' to buy one because I still believe a Tyros 4 + Pa3X a possible keyboard match made in heaven. Let's see.
Really Ian I don't want to start a Yamaha vs Korg war again but some people are asking for it. I am tired of hearing all these negative things. People should wait till april for the official release and demo's. Like I said before the PA3X isn't ready yet. The Italian and German team are still working on the sounds, styles etc.
You are right about the poor presentation at Namm but that's the fault of Korg USA and I think that some people will or already have lost their job.

Fortunately (I would hope), it's our innately human nature of 'inquiring knowledge' that drives us to seek out all we can get on the Pa3X and any other arranger keyboard(s) of interest for that matter. It's Korg's responsibility (not ours) to manage & control what information gets disseminated out there. The cat's already out of the bag. If this requires Korg now to put up Official Demos earlier than originally scheduled, then so be it. The success of their product may depend on it.

The speakers on the Tyros remind me of the headlights on the Lotus 7...
Unlike the Tyros speakers, the car's performance made up for the odd design...although, there are those who swear by the MS speakers(and those who swear at them!).

Hi Dreamer,
Thanks for posting those videos. I worked with Raffaele when he was at Generalmusic; he and I had sort of the same job, he in Italy and me in the U.S. He is a great player and a very nice guy as well. It is good to see that he is doing well. If you happen to run into him again, please tell him that Dave McMahan said hello.

Fran you just dont get the rules of a discussion board do you ? if you dont like the topic, just leave it alone. If it annoys you , find another topic , problem solved ! There is no anti korg talk here. We are talking about a musical instrument not somebody's mother !! why get so offended ? Just steer clear and find a topic you can enjoy or start one if you prefer if all the 'negative talk' bothers you so much.
a discusion board is for people who wish to discuss, we may not always agree but most people can handle disagrement. If you are not one of them then you are free to start a discussion that you feel everyone will agree with.

Diki do you think the rep who is employed by Korg demoing a korg instrument for an audience in a music store whilst being recorded does not think the recording might appear on yuotube ???? Especially for a product that supposedly has not yet been officially released ????
No you don't get the point Spalding. The only talk lately is how bad the PA3X is. People judge this keyboard on some lousy videos that's my point. So stop talking stupid and wait till April.

OK...so here is the deal. Korg announced it WE didn't. If they announce it and did NOT SAY Oh by the way it isn't finished so there wil be no official demos of sounds/styles ct...then OK...BUT they didn't did they?
They announced it at NAAM, A pretty big trade show, Yes?
So it's not our fault we expected the normal stuff from a major player and we didn't get it.
So, IMHO don't stand up for Korg, there are big boys and they should get the heat, not us!
January to Aril is a long stretch to announce something to the world, to find out they don't have it finished.

thats where you overstep the Mark fran . Your comments are offensive (yet again) . There is nothing stupid about people forming an opinion about a product based upon clips they have heard. Thats precisely why companies provide recordings of their products as clips.
If you think the comments are stupid what does it have to do with you ????

Fran your passion for Korg is clouding the way you interpret certain people's posts on this thread and other threads relating to the PA3X
I think if there was a thread which had people bashing a Yamaha or Roland keyboard - I doubt very much we would see you telling people they are Stupid just like you are doing in this thread.
This is a very honest - non biased thread in my opinion.
The wait and lack of official information regarding the PA3X is frustrating all of us and we are entitled to voice our opinions and discuss things in a civil manner (which is what we are all doing).
I agree that if you do not like these discussions you best either go to another forum or simply ignore these threads...
Nick

man this is like talking to a brick wall...
Fran - we don't mind that you Don't like Yamaha! Your comment "ouch to my ears" is your OPINION and Me and others respect that. We are NOT calling you stupid for stating your opinion but you are calling others Stupid and that is where you are being unreasonable.
I am not asking you to apologise Fran, just understand that we are not just bashing Korg without valid reason... and our comments about the "situation" with Korg are not "stupid"... we are being civil about it.
Nick

Yes very civil. Bashing an instrument you haven't even played on. And I don't dislike Yamaha. I only want to show that a Tyros 4 also can sound bad on a video. It's like I am talking to a brick wall because you people just don't understand that you can't judge a keyboard on bad videos. TJEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Nick i dont think Fran even watched the clip he posted through to the end. That was actually a very good demonstration of how the Tyros could be used as an arranger and as a workstation and as a synth . Even with the handycam you can hear the quality of sound. watch from 3.38 onwards and listen to that soprano sax and the subtleties of the strings in the arrangemnet. then from 5.00 where he shows how to use the inbuilt sequencer. Very phat drums and bass sounds. Of course he uses a cheesy choir sound in the loop but the synth sound is very nice and current. then he shows how to very quickly alter the bass sound into an intersting modulated sound and assigns it to his foot switch.

And nothing negative to say about the fellow doing the playing, I'm sure he is playing material that suits his clientèle. But wow, how cheesy that thing sounds. If a non-arranger player were to be introduced to the Tyros only by that video, they would think it is horrible.

Fran, Korg caused this problem! The PA3X is NOT finished...They should have just said that at NAMM when they did those demo's if you call them that.....
They just announced it at NAAM to get it out here.
They should have just kept it under their petticoat until it was ready....you don't announce a musical instrument you can not fully demo.
I would not be too surprised if right now someone at Korg (marketing) is looking for a new job.
Yes I know Lee that Korg USA caused all this. I told here before that the PA3x wasn't finished yet and that we should wait till April for the official release and demo's.
At that moment we can judge about the quality of the PA3X and then I decide if I want one or not.

Another way of looking at it is that many Korg fans (like ME) will most likely never buy a Tyros and the sneak peek at a new model has piqued our interest already. Trade shows were never intended for the public, so I doubt that the manufacturers even care what idle gossip is going on in chat rooms or on You Tube. When the units ship and the marketing kicks in, I'm sure hungry Korg buyers will come out in droves to see, feel, hear and (probably) BUY the new PA3x. Korg has a very successful relationship with pros on stage, and you can bet that they are counting on that kind of support for the sale of these new boards. I doubt that Yamaha really affects Korg sales that much. They are so different in many ways, and I think there's room at the top for Korg and Yamaha, just as there is room for Ford and Chevy...chocolate and vanilla...peas and carrots...(you get the idea!)
I will play the PA3x with open ears and closed eyes and decide where to go from there. To even join in the speculation this early is counterproductive, and I won't engage.
To Yamaha's credit - if classical and theatrical arrangements are your bag, then you should be very excited because so far, the demos sound fantastic. For me - that style of play is rarely in my shows, so I won't miss a thing. I'm a "play the hits" kind of guy and I like the added punch and bite that I get from Korg rhythm sections. Actually, for me - the best arranger would be somewhere right between the Yamaha and the Korg. None of the others do it for me. Just thinkin' out loud.

are you ordering the speaker system also ...?...61.or 76 model?
Look, we can see that even dictators in the Middle East have a problem controlling what gets videoed and what doesn't, these days... Why should some underpaid Korg part-time sales rep (who probably works for another dozen companies, too) be able to control what a brutal dictator can't...?
BTW, it's a long established sales procedure to show a product at a VERY early stage, even if overwhelmingly, to hold sales up of a competitor's products if they get to market before you. Many other companies have done, even to the point of vapor-ware...! At least we KNOW that the PA3X will ship, pretty soon.
What has become disappointing, on this forum, are people who SHOULD know better, expressing disappointment at poor, amateur presentations and videos that fail to match even the PREVIOUS Korg arranger, and assumptions that this IS what it is going to sound like... There's no way in hell that, when the PA3X is released (rather than beta demoed for dealers and the like) it is going to sound WORSE than the PA2X...
So, go listen to a PA2X, and then imagine it with a doubled sound ROM. And give your fevered imaginations a rest!
