I'm trying to decide between these two mixers. Unfortunatley there's no dealer around me that carries them. I'd be using the mixer with a Bose compact.

Anyone tired them both? what are your thoughts?

Fran & I both use the Edirol M-10DX Mixer on stage....
& are very satisfied with it's features. The "ROOM ACOUSTICS" feature is worth the price alone. What do you specifically want to know?......................................

The M-10DX is a 24-bit, 96 kHz full-digital 10-channel mixer.
It delivers high audio quality and sophisticated functionality at an amazing cost/benefit ratio, giving you the
sound and operability of a full-digital mixer for an ideal mixing environment.

A full complement of input/output jacks are provided, including phone jacks and RCA pin type input/
output jacks.
For mic input, the unit offers two XLR type connectors. Phantom power is also provided.
For digital output, both optical and coaxial jacks/connectors are provided.
Also included are special “insert effects,” designed to be used on vocal sources input via microphone, such as
narrations and announcements; a “finalize” effect, which improves the overall volume and loudness balance
to create your final sound; and “FX,” which provides spatial-type effects, such as echo and reverb to simulate
the acoustics of a club or hall.
The M-10DX’s “Room Acoustic Auto Control” function analyzes the acoustical characteristics of the room and
automatically adjusts the output signal so that it will be appropriate for that room.

A backlit graphic LCD display is provided, letting you adjust the channel levels while viewing the settings in
the display. The display also shows information about each channel and about the effect settings, giving you
visual confirmation of the current status while you operate the mixer.

The M-10DX can be powered using the included AC adaptor, or using batteries (eight AA batteries).
If you use batteries, you’ll be able to set up your system anywhere, including outdoors.

“Room acoustics” refers to the overall acoustical characteristics of the environment in which you’re
reproducing sound, including the response of the speakers you’re using.
The M-10DX provides a “Room Acoustic Auto Control” function, which automatically compensates for the
acoustics of a room. At the touch of a single button, this function performs the following operations:
(1) Outputs a test signal from the M-10DX, and plays this signal through the connected monitors.
(2) Detects the sound played by the monitors with the Room Acoustic Sensor, and analyzes its
frequency response.
(3) Based on the results of the analysis, automatically adjusts the response of the output signal.

I actually own both of these mixers, and I like them both a lot.
The Yamaha has a more straight-forward, conventional interface. It has really good effects and e.q. and is exceptionally clean, as you would expect from Yamaha.
The Roland has the room equalizer thing which Fran likes so much, but I haven't seen a need for it. I tried it once but didn't like the results, so I probably wasn't doing it right.
It also has great effects and e.q. The interface is more menu-driven. Knobs have various functions depending on what menu you're on. The display shows input levels, output levels, e.q., pan, and effects settings, depending, again, upon which menu is open.
It has a smaller footprint than the Yamaha and easily fits in just about any setup you could imagine.
There is compression available. You can set up various scenes and save them. A lot of this is overkill for my needs right now, but I have it in the system because of its size.
I basically run everything pretty flat as far as e.q. The Bose doesn't need much e.q.
As I said, effects are good on both of them. If I had to keep one only, I'd probably keep the Yamaha.
I have a Peavey that I like better than both of them, but it is a little larger.
You can't go wrong with either one.
Drive on over and check 'em out if you like.

I would like to agree with the other comments here. The Edirol M10-DX is a good box for the money. The channel gains are a "tad" noisy when taken past unity gain, but in a live situation not noticeable. But the rest of the features greatly outweigh this.

Would put a lot of other more expensive mixers to shame really.

In fact I have just recently re-purchased one to use live, and leave the Mackie setup in the studio.
