Calling all SZ Sound Engineers! I have a gig coming up and will be playing both my keyboard and sax. It's a little larger crowd than I normally work, so I was thinking of using my stereo PA head w/my EV SX80 speakers. My question is... would the Bose Compact bass unit make a reasonable sub in this arrangement? Or should I just not tote it along? Has anyone employed the Bose in that role? All insights and responses greatly appreciated!

Randy, take the Compact with you , it's only another 30 pounds...This way you will find out if it helps your sound....and you will have it for your stage monitor..My guess, it will help with more bottom...
Now if you think you have a need for a real sub woofer (600-1,000 watts)...that's another story..

Thanks guys! Gary, it's a wine-tasting event at the Base Officer's Club which was recently renovated and in the process they have converted it to a "Consolidated All Ranks" club - just re-opened. Pretty big rooms and I'm not sure if they'll have the partitions all opened or not. The manager told me the crowd would be around 150 and with the wine festivities I expect it could get a little noisy. Since I'm just playing background music I don't suspect they want it to be too overpowering. My EV speakers actually put out some pretty good sounds but just wondering if it would be worth running the Bose in addition. Like Fran says... 30 more pounds and w/my RockNRoller cart, no big strain to take it along and fire it up. Thanks again for your thoughts guys!

Thanks guys! Haven't worked a gig with my keyboard running through just the Bose yet but I'll give it a try! I'll do some prechecks to figure out which piano sound works best w/the Bose. Thanks!
