I am courious to know if anyone here uses a modular synthesizer? Be it an early vintage one like a Moog 55 or a new on like a Synthesizers.com. Either as your main instrument or with other keyboards?

But Fran the 49 Chevy has been superseded by later models. But a modular synth hasn't. It is still the most flexible analog system available to synth enthusiasts. Clavia now sell the Nord Modular which uses a computer software interface to set up patches.

Calvia has helped in createing a resugence in Modular synthesizers. There are so many more things that you can do with a modular synth, that can not be accomplished with a non modular synth. I have seen quite a few musicians turing to a modular synth because of the flexability that they have. Plus today's modular synths are more stable then their vintage counter parts. And with a virtual modular like the Nord Modular and Arturia Moog V. Musicans can now take a Modualr synth on the road. Even some hardware based modular synths are still being built for travel as well.
