Hi

I am planning to save my songs in Reg Mem button 1, with one file for each tune. This would allow me to continue using my favorite 8 preset sounds on each song.

I realize I can have a different song saved on each button 1-8, but at least at this point am not planning to do it that way unless I want to set up a show playing one song after another that way.

I was planning to save this data to the hd and then copy it to a usb as a backup and also to be able to use it on a T3, T4 and I'm thinking it will probably work on a S910. I'm using a Tyros 2 at the moment.

I have since become aware of the need, it sounds like, to keep the same file path for the reg's. It sounds like if I save to hd and then copy that to usb that it won't work on the usb unless I made double registrations one for hd and one set for usb. I realize that I could copy/paste from usb to the hd of the other instrument, I presume, but this wouldn't work if I wanted to use it on an S910 using T2 files.

I have become aware of software by Kim Winther. It sounds like his Tyros Registration Memory Editor or possible one of his other programs will convert the hd reg's to work on usb, maybe even being able to batch them. Does anyone know if this is true?

I am in the process of changeing the way I used to call up songs/styles from using the MFD, user song styles and on the fly to using all songs on reg mem because of the Open Text program that Michael Bedesem just put out which will call up a pdf on my laptop just by choosing a reg file.

I've also discovered it's a pretty good idea to research something new like this a bit so there are no unexpected and unwanted surprizes cool

Any info on this is greatly appreciated as Kim does not list an email address.

If anyone has interest in this subject I have several threads going on this over on psrtutorial.

Scott

Scott, When I had my Tyros 3, I was able to press one registration and call up:
1-A style
2-Instruments for right and left hand
3-Transpose if needed
4-Lyrics
5-A midi file of the same song – I could play the song live or with a Midi file.
All of the with just one registration, that’s good. It takes a bit of work getting the job done but after a few it did go pretty fast.

Hope this helps, John C.

Hi John

Thanx for the reply. Yes, I'm aware that you can save around 10 different parmeters in the registrations.

Now that I'm working with the new software, Open Text, I can press a reg mem saved with song title and it will bring up a pdf of a lead sheet on my laptop. Pretty cool I must say.

I'm wanting to save the data to my hd and also a usb. I have become aware of the issue of the file path. Aparently you can load the data pasted on the usb into the hd of a T2, T3 and T4 and that should work fine. I think????

But, if I should want to use these registrations on a S910, which I understand plays T2 styles pretty good as is, that the 910 has no hd and it would have to work off the usb if at all.

This will make changing from one keyboard to another as quick as insterting the usb stick. No more having to redo everything before being able to play a different instrument.

So, I'm really thinking ahead on this one to make things real easy as I go to different instruments either as a backup or having purchased a new keyboard. This will be great because I know all the new keyboards work backwards and will use the older style format if desired/needed.

Some of the things I've mentioned I am assuming to be the case. If anyone see's any error to my approach I would love to hear about it now before I get knee deep.

Scott,

Check the section pertaining to registrations I wrote a few months ago on the PSR Tutorial site. This may answer most, if not all, of your questions.

Hi Gary

Thanx for the reply. While I know those steps you listed in your article, I would highly recommend anyone needing a good full view of how to save registrations to check that out.

For those that are following this topic I thought I'd include an article I wrote for psrtutorial 8 years ago. I am using this same general method for saving my songs now as registration files in ten different catagories with sub-folders as I did then for user song styles.

This is the absolute fastest way to go from song to song there is. It allows you to use your folders as a song list. So if someone asks for a West Coast Swing or I decide to play one of those it allows me to pick a song that would work great that I had not thought of for some time.
