Hi Tony
I use Composer and know that it reads midi pretty well, but vocal, outside of duhsmand oohs, I don't know.

Why don't you download a free trial and see ?

Hi Tony,

Its not possible to have a vocal in 'Midi Format'.

A Midi file is purely digital (0's and 1's) instructions to a sound card or computer to tell it which note on what instrument at what volume, and all the other parameters of a sound sample stored on a Sound Card. Recorded Vocal is usually only found on .Mp3 and .wav files, which 'Notation' - which works in .mid - will not recognise.

Kind regards,

John

John, this is not a statement, it is a question.

In programs like Cakewalk/Sonar you can add audio to your midi. Like a drum audio loop. Where does the line between midi an audio cross?
Years ago I heard a short song programed on a keyboard where a female voice sang the lyrics -- It did take a great deal of memory.
Owners of the Kn7000 can hear a female voice to say “Welcome to ----------“. The words a legible???

Thank you, John C.

Hello John,

You are correct... In Cakewalk, Cubase, and many other sequencing programs, you can add 'real time' Vocals and / or instrumentals that have been recorded in in .Mp3 format, to the midi work that you have done in .mid format.. The KN7000 will also play back Mp3 Files. I seem to remember that Kenneth Gundersson once had Videos on Youtube where Leanne Rymes, Willie Nelson, etc sang, while he played the accompaniment....

Later edit .... Amazing Grace - Leanne Rimes & Kenneth Gundersen

You Are My Sunshine - Willie Nelson & Kenneth Gundersen

Of course, what you do is play the Mp3 and your keyboard together, and record into the computer, the two combined from the 'Line Out' of the Keyboard.

I hope this makes sense, and that others will - if I am wrong anywhere, please correct me.

Kindest regards,

John

Hi,

The KN-7000 is more than just an mp3 player like Kenneth is using it on Youtube. He actually start the mp3 song and play along live with a piano sound. No auto chords and no MIDI sequence there.
If you use SD Audio Synchro in the sequencer, you can synchronize any mp3 with the MIDI file on board. This is pretty useful, for example, when you want some back vocals to sing along with you live.
And the KN remembers wich mp3 file go along with the specific MIDI file.
