Does the morphing feature work for anyone out there with an XD3 or is the effect just too subtle for my old ears?

I have experimented setting up programs but when I use the morphing setting all I get is a single voice constantly - Am I doing something wrong?

AJ - DAN0? Does this work for you on your XD3/9. Perhaps mine is broken!

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards - Keith

Kfingers,

There are some examples of Morphed sounds under the Program menu (I believe in the PAD category) _ Morphing1 & Morping2 for you to try out and see/understand the effects.

Thanks,

AJ

PS: Also remember that MORPHING works for the first and 2nd Program voices ONLY!!

Thanks for the swift reply AJ.

I have tried the morphing programs and they definately don't morph for me (lol).

I would have like to have been able to morph from say a piano into soft brass but it's defeated me. I'm not too worried about it though - I'm probably doing something wrong.

I've had the new orchestral card fitted (and very good it is too) - I dont suppose that this would stop the morphing!!

Never mind - I would still like to hear from someone with an XD though to see if it works for them!

KFingers,

The new FLASH card shouldn't really affect the Morphing function - it actually adds since you can also use the voices within the Card.

Are you:

* Using Program Edit
* Selecting distiguishable voices for the first and 2nd voice (first 2 columns) in Page 1/3
* Setting the Mode (page 3/3 using F5) to Morph.
* Using the Modulation Wheel to 'morph' from the first voice (highest position) to the 2nd voice (lowest position).
* Saving the program after you are done (otherwise you'll loose the changes).

Hopefully this helps ... if not you can give me a buzz and let's get to the guts of what's going on.

Thanks,

AJ

AJ - Thanks for the last post - I am at work but I will check again when I get home.

I'm pretty sure that when I use the modulation wheel it just adds modulation though. Do I have to change a setting somewhere?

It must be me cos I can't do Wah using the mod wheel either.

I'll check it out when I get home and let you know what I've been doing wrong.

Thanks - KF

My understanding is that you have to have a modulation wheel for this to work . Dano

DAN01

I have a modulation wheel on both my master keyboards which works fine. I use this and the pitch bend wheel all the time to give certain voices more expression.

However there was a problem with the XD3 which didn't affect the XD9 with the earlier version of the OS. This was with sustain sent over MIDI. If I plugged the sustain directly into the XD3 then sustain worked fine when I plugged the sustain pedal in to a master keyboard to send over MIDI the XD did not recognise it on voices or user voices but did on programs. Of course I checked all the MIDI filtering parameters but to no avail. I reported this to AJ and it was fixed in release 2 of the OS.

I only mention the above in case there is a similar situation where the XD9 Mod wheel works but Mod wheel over MIDI doesn't.

In this case, either the manual should state this to stop people wasting their time trying to get something to work that won't on it should be fixed.

I ask again if there is anyone with an XD3 who can try to see if morphing works for them.

Ta - KF

Morphing is unfortunally NOT working with the XD3. It works only with the XD9.

Thanks for your input Nedsolaud. Did you get this info from Ketron or someone like AJ or DAN?
