A few years ago, I bought a Dynacord Powermate 1000 for $1500 after listening to all the other amps in the store. I had my own speakers there and immediately I could hear the difference in sound. It blew all the other amps right off the shelf.

Which brings me up to now. I went to upgrade and couldn't find them anywhere. I called the parent company (who also handles Electro-Voice) and found out that they stopped importing them into the US. (they're made in Germany) That they sell nicely in Europe, but not here.

I'm wondering if any of you have owned or had experiences with Dynacord mixer/amps and what you thought yourself. I feel like I lost a part of me!

Dynacord is hands down - the best. I own a couple of their speakers and just got a hold of their CMS1000 mixer. When I brought it to a recent gig to test my sound guy was totally blown away - he said that the sound was comparable to Midas (he did not say the same about my other great boards including the Presonus Studiolive 24 and Mackie Onyx - both great boards).

I have a friend who is a dealer who has Dynacord stock. What are you looking for in particular? (You can email me at cmilecki at yahoo . com.

What you pay, is what you get,DYNACORD is very expensive but worth every penny! well it's a good thing to support US based music stores but if they don't have the product what can you do?

We use a powermate 1600 MK-2 for years now, as pa in the band.
(we had a powermate 1000 but not enough channels for the band)
reasons: built like a tank, warmer sound as most other brands, easily expandable with a second, third etc... powermate.
We don't use the dynacord speaker cabinets though, as we prefer (heavy frown ) wooden cabinets due to the warmer sound.
The only downer is there are no sub mixing possibillities for each channel for backline amplification, so you do need an expensive patchbay for xlr thru-send to a stage mixer for the sound on stage, but overall we are very satisfied with the powermate which is built like a tank.
(we do have it in a flightcase though)
Also in Europe they are expensive but worth every penny.

greetings
Fred

So, then, it's NOT my imagination. Dynacord IS the El Supremo of amps.

I remember being in the music store spending hours with my speakers trying QSC's, Yamaha's, etc. Nothing really moved me. I decided not to buy anything. Then,I happened to catch a glimpse of the Dynacord they had sitting on a shelf in the corner. Figured I was there so I gave it a try. Immediately, it woke both me up and my EV's. Been happy with that unit ever since. And, yes, it looks so bullet-proof, I think only Kryptonite (Superman's Achilles Heel) could bring it down!

I'll make do with my Powermate 1000 for now and when the time comes, I'll have to look into buying another one from overseas. You guys are so lucky over there....you get the Korgs (PA3xPro) first and Dynacords to play them through. And.....you get folks who are more moved by music to play to than we have here.

I used a Dynacord CLS-222 Leslie sim for several years when it was too much hassle to haul the real Leslie...very complicated, but an awesome simulator...real nice (read:realistic) separation between the simulated rotary horn and sim lower baffle, and totally adjustable.

They make really excellent sounding and well made gear.
