Does anyone have a hissing sound using a condenser mic? Anytime the mic is active, just tap on it or talk/sing I get a hissing sound through the t4 speakers or my JBL speakers or headphones.... It is annoying.... I have been in contact with Yamaha Tech support and they got an engineer involved and they don't know why... I am using a Shure Beta 87 condenser mic powered by a Sterling Audio PHP-1 phantom power unit.... I also tried my presonus studio channel and it seems to be worse. I had my PSR S900 and it was dead silent.... I have been struggling with my new T4 with the voices but with all of your help I am very pleased with it now but not the harmonizer... Has anyone noticed this with their T4 and mic combo? I also tried a dynamic mic AKG D150 and still get the same result through the Studio channel but not direct into the T4.... Thanks Ron

Ron, I'm using an AKGC3000 Condenser mic powered by a Nady SMPS-1X Phantom Power unit and hear no hissing sound either thru headphones (Sennheiser HD650), or thru my custom PA setup (Logitech Z5500 PA). In fact, it's pretty much dead silent. IMHO, the mic thru the vocal harmonizer sounds clean & stellar as well. I set my Tyros 4 mic gain knob at around 11:00 and the MIC Default Balance at 115, and the Style Vol at 90. I then adjust 'all other' panel parts (LEFT, RT1,2,3) in relation to those settings.
Ron, feel free to PM me if you need further info or assistance. - Scott

Hi Ron and Scott:

I am using now a brand new EV N/D 767a dynamic (hipercardiod microphone),with my T4, and my setting is almost identical to Scott's, you must adjust the parameters of Highs, mids, lows, FX, etc...to best suit your taste and voice, no all voices are the same. Check your compression settings, etc.

Anyway, I get NO noise in my T4, for PA I use a Yamaha EMX 512/312 S and 2 or 4 EV ZX190s, depending on how large is the room I am playing, and works just fine.
I just started working in Casino's Lounges, and began singing a little, as a duet with another friend Michael Carollo that also sings (good singing voice) and also plays a T2 with the same EV mic model and plugged into his T2 VH and no noise either.

It may be the compressor "looking" for a signal. Turn off the compressor and limiter on at the mic settings page and see if it still happens.

Ron,

Sure like the guys say it in the setup somewhere, or it could be "Hissing Sid". Sorry I don't have the dots for it! I think it made it into the top ten in the UK, no accounting for choice.

Good luck
