I have a Tyros 3 connected to my amplifier and speakers. If I add a second keyboard I believe I have three connection options:

One,route the Audio out of the 2nd board through the Tyros Aux input and use the Tyros as a pre-amp. This requires both keyboards to be on. Note a problem as I would likely play both and midi them together.

Two,route them both through the amp using y-audio connectors. This allows them to be on separately or together although I'm not sure the effect of feeding the amp two discrete signals.

Third, route both keyboards through a mixer that is connected to the amp. Will this degrade the sound? If not what simple mixer would you recommend?

Thanks

The mixerr will not degrade the sound, in fact you can add EQ and fx to enhance the sound. I use a Mackie 1402 a lot of times and it does a great job as well as many other small mixers like yamaha. I mostly use a good keyboard amp because of multiple stereo inputs and srereo outs. I have a roland kc550 and it works great. There are many other good keyboard amps available as well. I personaly
would not route a secound board through the tyros or use y-connectors, even though it will work ok it's just not the best way to go. Remember, that even though you can have the best sounding keyboard and a great voice , it is only as good as the weakest link in your system. Choose a good mixer or Keyboard amp and I think you will be glad you did. Hope this helps.

Use the mixer--it's the best option.

Thanks for the responses. I appreciate it. Just to be clear the amp I refer to is a 2 channel stereo amp I use in my studio and not a keyboard amp.

Definately use a mixer. Behringer make a range of low cost mixers that would work perfectly for around $75.

Mixer baby....I like the Mackies and they have a nice 4 or 6 channel pretty reasonable.

Mackie and Behringer are definitely the way to go for low end. Yamaha's are excellent mixers, but pricey.... hope that helps.
