I like to use a SanDisk cruzer micro 256mb thumb drive in my Music Pad Pro. I've tried large capacity thumb drives, but it slows the loading process down when I'm trying to edit a set list mid performance too much.

For me, smaller is faster, therefore, better...

I religiously try and remove tunes from the sandisk to save space. This morning, I started with 28.1 MB of available space. I then deleted several tunes and a few set lists, which then upped me to 30.2 MB available...

The average size of my charts is about 350kb each...

Question #1: If 1 MB equals 1024 KB, and my average song file is roughly 350kb, am I correct in assuming that with 30.2 MB available, I have enough room for about another 85 songs of that same size?

30.2 X 1024 = 30'924.8 total kb available. Dived by average songfile size of 350 kb, = 88.36 songs

Right?

Question #2: On the directory for the thumb drive, are other misc. utilities that came with it. These include:

Cruzer Lock (153kb)

and

Cruzer Sync (1.23MB)

Are these programs I could delete and reclaim that additional storage space? Are they required for the storage device to work properly?

Would it jeopardize my other song data?

Thanks in advance...

Bill, I also use 250 Meg jump drives for the same reason you use them. I do have a couple of 2 gig drives that contain my entire library of books that I almost never use for playing. They are for those rare occasions that I am looking for a song that is not on the drive I use for playing.

You do not need either of the files that came with the Cruzer. And, you will gain some space by deleting them.

You can see how much of your jump drive is used by going to My Computer, then using the right mouse button click on the drive. Then click on Properties. You will get a pie shaped display that shows how much of the drive is used. You will probably be surprised at how much space is available. At 350K per chart you should get over 650 songs on a 250Meg drive.
