But its so easy to modify any MIDI style yourself on the Audya. You have a ton of ingredients, many of the live drums and guitars do not even appear in the main patterns.

If you like a midi style...for example SOUL_POP is good for a bit of Hammond groove. So, I just spent no more than 10 minutes and converted it to a live style on the keyboard and just played through the arranger parts fills. I swapped out drums, guitars and bass only so as not to affect the feel of the style too much.

Hi Tonewheeldude,

I have never worked with midi files. I always felt they were to Thin & Cheap Sounding.

Please let me know if I'm missing something with Midi files and the Audya.

I have edited many of the Ketron styles and am very pleased with the results.

But if there is something I could be doing with Midi and they sound as good as the styles, I'll give it a try. smile

Jim

I have a feeling this deserves a new thread but lets go here for now

sorry - i didn't mean work with Midi 'files'. That sample i posted above is not a MIDI FILE, it was an old Ketron Style from a previous model. Like the styles on a Tyros or PA series keyboards it is a standard Midi Style (basically an interactive Midi File). Your Audya sounds so different because it uses live elements - namely the drums and guitars, plus a whole lot more work on Midi elements too. The idea was to take out the predictability of styles (e.g. fret noise every two bars regardless of chord)

1) What I did was copy the file SOUL_POP.PAT to my Audya. Its a nice style but as you say, it sounds thin due to 100% MIDI elements.

2) I selected STYLE VIEW. Here you can see the 'ingredients' of the style.

3) I pressed F1 twice to go into the audio drums and found one I liked of similar tempo. This automatically sorts out all of your fills, intros, endings etc.

3) Guitars were next on my list so again chose live guitars for the two guitar sections in the style (F7 and F8 I think). almost done, but wanted the bass a bit more funky so changed that too. pressed the save button and put a "&" sign at the beginning so I could find it easily (Audya displays a dot in front of the style name). I also altered the volumes. Unlike the audio drums you have to do this for each arranger part and for intros/endings. a neat trick is to use "key stop" so the intro doesn't finish before you have chance to modify it.

This took me no more than 10 minutes and I now have a completely new Style to use which uses live drums & guitars.

Do you understand what I mean? I could have changed other parts too but I kind of like the brass and hammond stabs.
