Dan I am really sorry to hear about your situation, I know how it feels.
I had couple bad experiences on New Years eve, one was in the mid 80s, when I got my new Yamaha FX1 Electone(top of the line), it died after playing the first 45 minutes... the music store loaned to me a PSR 6100 or 6300, donīt remember witch one, that allow me to finish the job.
The other party was about 6-7 years ago, at the time I was playing the Ketron SD1, and about one hour BEFORE the people got there, the SD1 died, I was lucky to get it back, I had to make some quick registrations, somehow, those got lost, I made it just in time, it was VERY stressful, but, the job was done, in fact, I was ask to comeback the following New Years eve and I did.

I guess I'm among the fortunate individuals that never experienced a keyboard failure, though I did have an amp drop dead during a nite-club job in Baltimore. My backup keyboard is identical to my primary keyboard, and every registration, user files, etc... are identical as well. My NYE jobs are 20 minutes from the house and if one dies, which has never happened, I can be up and running in about 40 minutes. Or, I can just finish the night using MP3s on the laptop and DJ the remaining time. Cheers, Gary
