Gee Donny...there must be better demos of the harmonizer than this one.

Sounded like a bunch of munchkins from the Land of Odd!

Your S910 sounds better, in my opinion.

Try and find one of Uncle Dave's old demos...much better, if I remember.

It may be a Kazoo to you Donny...but it is far better than what was posted.

I've heard some really great stuff done with the S910's VH...Dan Rymut on PSR Tutorial makes it sound very good indeed, and even offers tips on how to set it up...I've passed these on to my clients who use S910's and other Yamaha with the same unit, and they were quite pleased with how it sounded.

I think using a VH "live" sounds okay, but many performers over-use it, and the whole thing just comes across as very contrived and phony...it is a much better studio tool than for use with a one man band.

That's just my opinion.

I have seen those demos....I wasn't impressed at all.....
IMO it's a toy gimmick...Yamaha has alot to learn with VH processors...that's why so many players have separate units like TC Helicon Harmony M, Etc, Etc, even though they spent thousands on an arranger KB...go figure?..
btw... I really enjoyed the vocoder mode this demo showed on a great classic Queen song.....it was really well done. I'll also agree that many players have no idea how to use VH effectively and over use is an understatement. Used sparingly it certainly can enhance a song when done correctly.
Studio recording is how I like to use it also..

I thought it was somewhat entertaining in a laugh out loud way.

Not a new video, but somewhat better...

It is a gimmick, to be sure, and despite your views, there are many who benefited from Danny's great tutorial, myself included (I use it on clinics)...funny, but you never see a harmonizer being used on American Idol, or any other show that may feature a single vocalist...unless it was pre-recorded (studio).

If you really enjoyed that video you posted, that's great...I thought it was quite funny, and I think the guy in the video must have been joking around...no one could post something that awful and be serious.

I laughed out loud too, Larry.

The one you posted is very good indeed...night and day difference...of course, the guy is obviously a pro singer and knows how to set it up...that sure helps.

I haven't heard anything about it, Larry...it may be still before some committee, or it may have had bugs that needed to be worked out...who knows?

All Vocal Harmony units sound awful, they all sound very artificial. But ----- they do add if they are not overused.

Here’s 2 good reasons for using a good VH.

1-I am a senior with a Sinatra type of voice and thanks to the VH I am able to sing some of today’s music.
2-On a 2 or 3 hour job it does take away from the boredom of hearing the same type of voice all night.

I had the top-of-the-line Digitech; Yamaha Tyros3 , and the TC Helicon Touch Live; I find the TC Helicon VH to be the best -- That is what is in my Korg Pa800.

And yes, the Korg rep really knows how to demo the unit; isn’t that what we want to hear??

Hang on Donny did he sing " I just killed a dog " stop

It's a man not a dog, or do I need to go and see the dentist??? laugh

Lyrics below:

I just killed a man, confused
Put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger
now he's dead
Mama... life had just begun,
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mamaaaaa oooh,
Didn't mean to make you cry,
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow,
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters

Tony the Queen!!! heeeee surprised

PS Donny what was the "WOW" for, I think you liked it! grin

Right on, John! The secret is in how it is used, and how often.

I haven't heard a Vocal Harmony unit yet that I like...even the Helicon units sound artificial to my ears.

I still think studio use is where it shines..."live" not so much, although sometimes doubling and delay can add a nice alternate sound to the performer's voice.

I don't believe he was a Korg rep, but rather a TC Helicon rep which happens to be part of the Korg PA

For original video of the filipino guy singing Queen, he was using pa 500 (not PA 800) and using Korg IH ( Interactive VH machine).

Weird Al even has the lyrics right! No animals were harmed in the making of this one. wink

Truly awful, Nigel...but, as with other stuff by "the Weird", truly funny and inspired as well.
