I have just seen this on Facebook on guitarist Steve Khan's page:

"It is with a very heavy heart that I have to mark the passing of pianist, composer, arranger, the great Clare Fischer. His unique style, his harmonic concepts, his beautiful melodies cast such a profound shadow over so much of what I have been trying to do - and even then, I'm only the most humble of students. Clare, his beloved wife, Donna and his dear son Brent were always so kind to me, and I have never undervalued the gift of his friendship and support."

That's very sad. An incredible player and I have some of his solo albums which is some of the best solo piano I've heard.

Another great gone. Sad times.

We've been doing his song "Morning" which a fellow SZ member recently gave me the lead sheet for. Great tune which my wife put some nice Spanish lyrics to. Sounds great as a Latin jazz cha-cha-cha. RIP Mr. Fisher.

That is sooooo cool. He had incredible chops on the Rhodes, and what a great tone.

I like the chord clusters, and smooth lines...excellent stuff, and a great loss to us all.

Thanks,

Ian

I've been doing one of Clare Fischer's songs for quite a while, "You've Changed". The favourite version for me is one I'll be darned I can find anywhere on the web is by Niki Harris (Gene Harris' daughter) and Jimmy Smith. Great classic, killer version.
