It works exactly the same as on Linux (As promoted by Lionstracs) however consider whether you need it, as if you are just running VSTs, then the same can be done in a VST Host. (Try Energy XT,
http://www.energy-xt.com/index.php?id=0101 as it is a host (Plus much more) that can also be run within a host)
If you wish to use standalone programs in conjunction with VSTs etc. then Jack will do all that you require.
Myself I have never found any need for Jack (Although I do have installed on my system just in case) but your needs may be different.
