Hello !

After 10 years of gigging with the Ketron SD1, it started to become unstable (always rebooting, the singer had to finish the gig without me!).

I did one gig with my Ketron Audya, but I had some problems too. It sounds amazing, but I don't feel so confident that nothing bad will happen during the 4 hours gig.

I also have a lot of pain when I have to carry the Audya 76 !

So I had to buy a new keyboard, and I choosed the latest arranger from Yamaha, the PSR-A2000 for approx 1500€.

It is the same keyboard than the PSR S710 + Oriental styles and sounds + Joystick for Pitch bend/modulation + Some more buttons for arabic scale.

I did 3 gigs now with the PSR-A2000. I still don't feel so comfortable with this keyboard, but start to enjoy how it sounds.

There is also a room to install one free expansion package from Yamaha website. I installed the TURKISH/GREEK sound/style expansion.

I sometimes play this kind of music, and can say that this extension sounds very good.

The sound of Yamaha is less in face than Ketron, more "small" but more orchestrated and more "easy" to listen.

I started enjoying playing a Yamaha keyboard smile

Even if the samples are "less" good than Ketron, the synth engine and FX engine is better than Ketron.

I love for example the disto / delay on the distortion guitar.
The chorus on EP...

Unfortunately, I have also somthing that I HATE on this KB :

I switch sounds very often. and really don't feel comfortable with this RIGHT 1/RIGHT 2 sound selection

Most of the sounds I like to use is a set of Right 1+Right 2, layered and want this to come directly when I press ONE button

I have some questions for the Yamaha owners here :

1) Can this be saved R1+R2 as a PRESET? 4 OTS is not enought for me. It's like limiting me at 4 sounds only for one style !!

On the Ketron logical, every preset is a OTS (layer + fx). So it is hard for me to be limited to 4

2) How can I edit the OTS on the KB? I didn't find it (I did not read the manual yet wink

3) How can I copy one OTS from one style to another one on the KB?

4) why on some styles, when I press one OTS, it activate the SYNC START too !!!!! how I can edit this?

I will post more questions later

Thank you.

Yes, you can save the R1 and R2 in the Presets, or as Yamaha calls them Registration Memory.

You will want to spend time over at psrtutorial.com it is THE place to go for help.
