I love the sounds, style and features of the MicroArranger, but I'm still not able to figure out simple, necessary moves.

Most of this, I know is keystrokes and pages. But I have a difficult time finding these answers in the manual and hope that someone else's explanation can make these things clearer to me. I need to be able to do these things on the fly LIVE if I ever plan to use this arranger for anything other than a diversion.

1. When playing a SMF, how do I access the STS voices? I keep getting whatever is on ch 1 and I know that's not right.
2. Same with style play - I can easily access the STS with buttons 1-4, but where can I consistently find them on the screen? They show up every now and then, but I can never remember how to find them.
3. Song vs Song Play: which should I use to load and play SMFs in seq 1 and 2?
4. Seq 1-2: Help me remember how to efficiently use both for SMF play.

Can't help you with your SMF questions as I don't (yet?) use that feature, but to view the currently selected 1-4 STS "realtime keyboard tracks" on the screen, simply press the "Style Play" button. (see page 26 of owners manual).

Being a complete Korg arranger newbie myself, I too have found the Korg OS a little challenging to initially get my grips on, especially because so many features are so deeply buried in sub menu pages and or not very well explained (if at all) in the owners manual. That said, here a couple things I only recently figured out:

1)You can view the "bank-location" of your currently selected Style, Performance, or Program, but pressing the "Shift" button and then the "left most" button of the aforementioned button Style, Performance/Program sections.

2) You can trigger a fill with playing velocity (how hard you play a LH chord)

3) You can assign how Fill-1 and Fill-2 buttons function
a. up to the next variation
b. down to previous variation
c. fill to self (off)

4) On KB startup, the setting of Performance Bank 01-1 are automatically called up, so storing your prefered KB settings here is probably a good idea.

Tips and tricks shared by others greatly appreciated as well.

I want to shout out a BIG THANKS to Scott for calling me this afternoon. He caught me in the middle of something else, but I'm sure glad I took the time to speak with him. He encouraged me to do a reset because some styles were missing and I was having trouble with some procedures. Voila! After the reset all the User 3 styles popped up, the STS voices were visible and I even managed to figure the ??? proper way to load SMFs. The only thing I'm still having problems with is accessing all 4 STS during a SMF. If anyone has that answer, please let me know.

Now, it is aimed primarily at the Pa2X, but while I'm not familiar with the Micro myself, I'm sure you'll find more than a few things useful here, as the Micro is based on a Pa series arranger. His "a-z" section is very useful. Hope it helps you guys out.

p.s. He also has something simliar dealing with Yamahas - but maybe you already know about that.

It's actually a style play function. It can be used in Backing Tracks

You can't select an STS in song or song play mode as STS's are part of a style and not associated with a song.

You have to select either a program or a performance.
