Except for reading QuickTime files, Windows Movie Maker will do all that you want, so just get yourself a free video convertor and convert them to another format that WMM will accept.

I used WMM once to put a slide show together, and it was very easy to use.
If I make a high def quicktime movie, does it take a long time to convert it? Would image quality be lost?
Another question is, is it hard to line up the timing of two videos to edit into one? Is lining up the timing easier with one software more than another?
