Well, Donny, if the OMB would be considered as "advanced" would he/she make $300 for 1 hour? ... or $1000 for 4 hours ... I tend to doubt it, but then maybe for guys like yourself and Uncle Dave and others who might be playing weddings, Bat/Bar Mitzvahs, etc. perhaps that IS the going rate ...

My price for private parties is $400. Extended travel is extra.
Number of hours is anything up to four.

Well, advanced Deejays nowerdays create their own music, they use mixing tools and sequencers in real time to play with their crowd. If you ever deejayed with Ableton you know what i am talking about...

Rooky deejays, should be happy if they can play for free overhere in Holland, maybe $50 and free drinks for an evening.

Advanced Deejays make a few hundred, like 3 to 5 for an evening. Only the pros make big amounts of money

Espescially the numbers for Rooky and intermid Deejays are way to high. a good OMB can make 200 to 500 euros a night overhere in Holland.

My standard rate is $125/hour. No scratching, just keyboard and vocals. And, if the travel distance is more than 30 miles, there is an additional fee.

Cheers,

Bachus.....why is that? 200-500 Euros a night for a good OMB. What does a good OMB do, the type of music, etc to make that kind of money? Is there a lot of work there for OMB's and other live musicians?

There is a lot of OMB's and duo's (keys/drums) in the area i was born. In general they play in Bars, at weddings and parties. There used to be a lot more work for them, but as everywhere alse, there are more and more Deejays taking over gigs.

Most of these OMB's are not full time musicians, they have a job on weekdays and play in the weekends.

An Uncle of me, had a contract last summer at a local hotel during the season for 4 evenings a week and he made 950 euros a week.(and free drinks) Which is quite well payd for an OMB overhere in Holland.

Bands with more members are a lot more expensive tough, there are to many OMB's and Deejays tough and they somewhat ruin their own market.

a "Good" OMB plays and sings every type of music in demeand from contemperary to top 40 and rock and even some dance music.

These rates don't mean anything...as the only thing of concern to the client is what you sound like & what you do to make the affair successful by giving 110% of your talents to make the people have a good time, and when they leave they are blown away by the overall experience ...otherwise yea you'll get paid once....but forget about repeat business... giving people more then their moneys worth is what it is all about every single time.
When they hand you a check at the end of the GIG look them in the eyes and say thank you very much,.......
But, the RETURN look in the clients eyes says it all. wink
