Had a B-3 job with my grandson on drums last night. Normally, we use a horn, but Robb couldn't make it, so I took my new Micro and put it on top of the suitcase I use on my right, at 90'. I use a Roland 201 on top of the B.

Without spending a long time customizing, I found several horn
presets I likes and used them to "sweeten".

I have used a mid-80's MicroSynth for nearly 30 years, occasionally, so the keys had a familiar feel...kind of like the 3rd keyboard I had one on a Yamaha Electone I played for several years.

I think, Like Deane, I believe it's not the "end-all" board to perform with, but compact, fun, useful for doing roughs and could be used in arranger mode for gigging in a pinch.

Hi Captain, smile
Congratulations on getting the KMA!
I own the MicroArranger too and completely agree.
A great way to gain the distinctive Korg sound w/o breaking the bank.
I esp appreciate its quick 'grab and go' anywhere convenience, and above all, the sheer entertaining FUN of playing it.

Hmmm I don't think ANY keyboard B3 emulation compared directly to a real B3 is gonna do very well.

Yea, Donnie, Nigel is right. I suppose if you haven't touched a real one for a while, some of the optional units do o k. But you're talking to one old timer who doesn't even like to use anything but TUBE Leslies.

I play a B-3 two to 4 nights a month and have an M-1, XB-2 and a 147 RV in the office.

Even my beloved Nord C-1 is a barely acceptable substitute.
But, you gotta remember; in the moment, you have more than just the sound.

Playing a noisy, heavy old mechanical B-3 is an experience.
Then, there's the matter of continuous, expensive maintenance of both the B-3 and the Leslies. Maybe I'd better listen to this little Korg a little closer (LOL)!

Russ...I understand what your saying , I also played a B3 many years way before arrangers were even on the market in the 60's/70's......all I was trying to find out is your opinion on what a KMA $499.00 arranger organs sounded like compared to the B3....good bad or indifferent. In no way are they better,... but they are not that bad "for the price" don't you think?..

For the price...OK. I'd never use it live for B-3. Instead, I'd use a 2nd board (Nord); BUT...portability is what's great here. For film roughs done on the fly, the B-3 emulation is GREAT!
