Reading another post on here about the USB pen drive and ordering from another country to save money made me want to write this.

A number of people on SZ have said they envy the support available from Ketron UK. The reason for that is very simple, we charge more than online sellers. If we did not there would be no support here, there would be no available parts stock and there would be no fast repair solution, we would not need to answer people's questions or operate workshops and have Open Days. Ok our customers would be frustrated when they receive no help from us...but hey...they saved $$$ on the price of the keyboard so its all good....

...or not.

Or maybe we could take the Microsoft approach:

A while ago I brought a software package from Microsoft. A few years ago the same package would have cost at least four times the amount. I thought its good value, until I realized there was a compatibility problem with the program that occurred after a Windows update which would not allow the use of 'SAVE AS'. So I called Microsoft and found it was impossible to talk to anyone without paying to do so. So I emailed and a couple of days later I was given a number to call by way of reply. I called the number but it was a licensing department and they could not help so put me through to the support desk who asked if I had paid for support. No I said. They told me I needed to pay $$$ to speak to an adviser. I said there is a compatibility issue in the program that needs to be fixed. They said I still need to pay the $$$ and if it turns out to be a genuine problem they would not charge my card, but if there was an explanation my card would be charged.
What would you prefer?

Hey Twd, the support thing, well ya know I do believe Yammy/Roland and mostly Korg give great service no matter what price you paid for the board. They see it as one of their own and treat it is such.

I know Ketron Uk are a private org and not a manufacturer, si I guess if I had bought the board from you I would expect the service you offer, which is great from what I hear. But this should not relieve Ketron Italy from their responsibility to correct bugs and so on. Upgrades I,m happy to pay for.

Hi TWD,

you forgot point 4:

Pay more less and get excellent service

[/Ironic off]

That would get the most hits I think wink

I think that meanwhile it´s a common problem, that people want the best service but are not willing to pay for it (not only here in Germany, as well in UK and the rest of the world ). A good PC-specialist gets more than 50 Euros / hour, the company he´s working for must exist as well.

Nevertheless a lot of problems would have never arised when the people had read the instruction manual ( I know that a lot of them are worse than bad );)

I'm afraid option Four only exists in the minds of those who choose option One wink

Actually its a good point you raise about the manual. Its vital to always make sure you have the latest download manual because it changes with every OS release. I rarely use a printed manual as I can search for topics on my computer making life much easier.
