I will be playing in a hall roughly 50x100 to about 70 people. I won't have much time to adjust the sound.

If my reverb is set to Concert 2 and sounds live enough in my small studio, might I expect it to be too much for a live hall ? I was thinking of resetting my registrations to room2.

Any thoughts ?

Bernie,,,,, That is about the size of my gig audience and room.

Yes, the sound is very different there than in my motor-home @
8x32 (exterior dimensions).... The gig room is very noisey when
people are talking, and lunch is being served. Sound bounces off the walls!!!

Adjusting the sound is necessary. Turning off the sustain in any
registration is also necessary... Other than those, I leave it alone...

Try whatever seems like a good idea while playing... Have fun!

Concert 2 is good. What is your TOTAL DEPTH set at? This changes the sound of Concert 2.

The depth is 80

I changed back to concert 2, but lowered depth to 60. It seems like it would be better in a live hall.

I am going to be leading a dance with about seven band members, some of whom wear hearing aids(senior band). I don't want to rattle them with reverb.

The question of Reverb ? I look at it this way.....

Let's say you are playing a 'Standard / Evergreen' in a big band style in the hall you mentioned.
If you are trying to sound like a real Big Band, then why would you use any reverb??
Which instrument in a Big Band has built-in Reverb? Saxes? Trumpets? Trombones? Drums?
So why use reverb in a large hall? The hall itself will probably 'add' sufficient...

If you are playing in a small acoustically 'dead' environment, then the situation is probably different.
Adding a little reverb in that situation can add a bit of 'colour' (or 'color' for the guys over the pond )

I will have to set up early and try it out in an empy hall, knowing there will be some deadining later.

If it is a question of on or off and not degree, a simple button push will handle that.

Adjust the reverb is a never ending subject. A trumpet needs some reverb it broadens the sound; a piano needs very little – depth 35. Because all instrument have a different reverb requirement I set my global reverb almost the same way Bernie does; Concert 2 depth 75, it is like a general thought. But I have the reverb set for the different instruments in the Panel Memory.


My two favorite instruments are Piano and Trumpet; the reverb setting is very different. I hear the piano in a pure state – the Trumpet in a large ballroom.

The problem of playing in different rooms is almost the same when playing in a colder room (air-condition) which later in the job warms up. The reverb must be turned down in intensity and turned up when it warms up. Unless the difference is very noticeable I have no patients for that.
