Takei sent me this link the other day. Not to post; he could have done that himself. But after reading it, I just felt that it was damn close to required reading for anyone interested in music education. Is it opinionated? Perhaps, but it's beautifully written and there is a lot of good information in there. Plus, it will make some of us reflect on ourselves and our musical abilities. It's a little lengthy (like it could have been written by Diki ), but worth the investment in time to read it. It's entitled 'Why do I like jazz'. Enjoy.

Oh boy someone who could explain this in an intelligent way and not make anyone mad at each other on the forum.

Like I said, "some of us could practice for a thousand years and might only be half as good as the great players," if that close! But does that mean we shouldn't try?

If it weren't for people trying better themselves, we might still be using candles. That means no keyboards. If we wanted to be serious about music, we'd all have to learn to play a real instrument. Ha ha
