Me!

What A Little Moon Light Can Do. Steve Tyrell.
Hello Dolly. Louie

The dinosaur i30 has a great Dixie style.

I use it and a Charleston style with a whistle and the whole 9 yards in it. I have a few others I do from time to time, but the only gigs I can get are NH
Every other gig in my town is reserved for DonM!!!!!!

I have some old friends who have a Dixie band. I play tenor banjo and sometimes 6 string banjo with them (never been caught "cheating" with the six string....easier).

FUN STUFF!

I cut my teeth on clarinet with a Pete Fountain album called "While we danced at the Mardi Gras" - I LOVE that stuff. I still get to play it at school with my other music teacher friend who is a trombonist, and one who plays banjo - we have a BALL!

Here's a copy of the title track:

The ones that Gary and Uncle Dave mention are great.

I especially enjoyed playing on the street at Mardi Gras (FAT TUESDAY)The tune that Dave mentioned. "When We Danced At the Mardi Gras."

Man you cannot only cut your teeth on that tune, but you can grind them out on it too.

I did a lot of Sam Butera in 1862. I was 21 and I had guys calling me to gig with them from 45 to 90. No bull here. The bassist was 89 and his Trumpet playing brother was 69. When they learned my name they told me that they played with my Grandpa in the late 20's and 30's.I did all the old standards in Butera's style.

If you never heard of him get him up on YouTube. You guys will really dig him more than Dexter Gordon and the Jazzers. Sam Butera barring none, is the greatest entertaining commercial Tenor Sax player who ever lived and who will ever live.
He's the crazy Sax guy with the Louie Prima and Keely Smith group. All top showman. They were popular in Vegas I'd bet for longer than any other group ever.

Name some more tunes Grandpa, oops! I mean Uncle Dave. Nice seeing you post more Dave. I don't understand all of your Hi Tech gear postings but I love it when your talking tunes etc.

Remember years ago when you sent me the chords to Tangerine. I hadn't played for 25 years and didn't have a clue of the chord structure. The chords you sent were extensive and I learned and progresses on other old jazz standards because of that tune. When I play it, you cross my mind, you old redhead chasing rascal!!!!
