I have a feeling that that Integra-7 might be more than some of you think.

All 12 SRX boards? At $250 list a pop? And the SuperNatural stuff from the $3500 Jupiter-80? If this is only $1500 or so MAP, it will be the steal of the century!



You honestly expect that for $1500? TBH, I'm guessing closer to the $2500 mark.

Mind you, a word of warning. Their have been V-Drum kits in Roland arrangers going back to the G70. Part of what makes them so live sounding!

Tell you what, though... it might make a GREAT module to use with vArranger!

I've already got a Fantom G7 and a VP770 (Supernatural Brass) but this baby sounds really exciting. I want the Roland Vdrums to replace the sound module on my Alesis DM10 Pro Edrums. If it's $1.5k or under, I'm there. Anybody need a barely used SonicCell? Great for playing back GM/GM2.

I noticed it said you can only load up 4 of the SRX boards simultaneously.

Where would we be without gotchas?!

Are you using the drums live, chas, or just at home?

If just at home, I would look more carefully at some of the VSTi drum libraries. BFD2, Superior Drums.... both of these are stunningly realistic, and there are expansion packs for both specializing in jazz drums and drum patterns.

Just at home for rehearsals (and recording). My drummer has a Roland TD7 and TD10 and doesn't think much of my Alesis, but will play it rather than bring over his own and having to set up. In any case, he's got it set up and tweaked to suit HIM, and since I don't play drums, I don't really care. He uses a scaled-down acoustic kit on the gig (what he calls his 'portable' rig).

Alesis was supposed to have 3rd party developers such as BFD do some kits that could be loaded onboard the DM10 but that hasn't happened. There is one available kit that's been developed (by somebody????) but I understand it's pretty lame. Besides, it replaces (rather than augments) the factory sounds, some of which are pretty desirable (some great special effects).

Will the Integra-7 be the first introduction to this combination of sounds from the past and into the future? All 16 channels has their own FX and EQ. Would a workstation or a new arranger be in the works for 2013 from Roland?

I have a concern...maybe the world economy is changing the direction Roland was heading...
Let me explain...
More than 3 years ago, I was told from a reliable source..that Roland planned on reducing the arranger line...till in fact they changed their manufacturing location in China, back to Europe..

It appeared that this info was accurate, the Prelude being the last Europe made arranger..

Now with the continued release of BK series (made in China), and this new module too (apparently made in China)...and the well made BA amp series......it looks like the move is postponed or they (Roland) changed their mind....

It doesn't seem like the problem (made in China) is quality of the products...but maybe the political view ...

Any way...It is very possible..Roland will be using this combo of SRX (superior sounds), and Super Natural....in their future line up....I hope so...and yes...I want the top of the line stuff...even at the extra weight.....No compromizes..76 semi weighted...the whole works...Roland has all the goodies already...just build the thing!!!!...Hopefully in Italy ...better yet..Japan facility is hard to beat...

Roland have usually used an existing product as the engine for their arrangers. The G600/800/1000 were all based around the Sound Canvas line.

Then they got a bit weird, and the VA and G70/60/80 all seemed to be cobbled together from disparate sources. Then, when they moved downmarket, the Sonic Cell powered the Preludes and GW's (and I think much of the BK series).

Finally, Roland have a brand new module model, with brand new sound engines, and capabilities. The per Part EQ is not new, but an independent insert effect per Part surely is. Perhaps, now that the grunt work is done, Roland's arranger division can go to work adding the arranger hooks to this engine and deliver us something more upmarket without it costing them an arm and a leg R&D'ing the engine itself as WELL as the arranger features.

Personally, though, I am far more worried that Roland will take yet another opportunity to DROP the great features they had (and often invented) while introducing little new. RIP Chord Sequencer. RIP Mark/Jump buttons. RIP the Cover Tools. RIP the Drum Variation buttons (a way to take a drum Part, and reduce it from full drums down to just the basic kick pattern in 4 steps) and so on.

In the meantime, they stubbornly refuse to add Multipads and Break/Fills, standard features on just about every other arranger out there. SuperNatural is simply SA voices in a different dress, and they have a LONG way to go to make it the equal of SA2 or DNC.

Maybe the writing IS on the wall... Roland seem to do best at that BOTL market sector.
