From a non-professional, non-gigging, hobbyist's point of view, I think the 950 sets a new standard. First of all, it SOUNDS very natural - the overall system sounds new and different to my ears - being used to the 910 and CVP509. I'd say the ambience of the keyboard gives a live performance sense - better than the 910, but still a bit more refined than the Korg Pa line, which is more edgy. I like the genre-specific audio drum recording methods used - they seem faithful to the era of the style. But I am also very impressed with how much better the guitars sound in the styles now that Yamaha has employed the use of real distortion. Just about every style sounds fresh - even those I am familiar with.

As I played late into the night last night, I was forced to use headphones. I was further impressed. The direct sound seemed even better to me. The aural balance seemed perfect.

I'll leave the list of disappointments regarding this board to someone else (there are some disappointments, as no keyboard is perfect in every way for every taste).

Right now I'm loving and enjoying the new toy.

Hi Tim

Yes, if you have the time could you list the 25 audio styles? I'm curious if it would have the kind of balance I would be interested in.

Also, how do the styles sound when switching between the new audio styles and the old versions? Is there a big sound difference? Does it sound natural or is there a noticible shift?

Thanx

Scott

After playing the tyros 4 and 910 for an hour I chose the 910 over the tyros 4 last year as I
Thought the drum kits on the t4 were similar to
910. Now the s950 sounds like a dream keyboard.thanks
For the review
