It's not a deal-breaker for me...however I am annoyed with the fact that you cannot record a song utilizing a style which contains an audio drum track - either internally or via USB audio. The keyboard will automatically ignore any audio drums and record only MIDI voices. The only way around it is to play live and record via the L + R outputs to an external recorder. Maybe someone can correct me, but that's what I am understanding regarding this limitation. If this has already been stated by someone else, please excuse the repetition.

Tim,

The reason it can not record an audio style using the keyboard recorder is due to the fact the recorder can not "Play" and "Record" at the same time.
Granted the Tyros can, but never the less those audio styles are transmitted out the Aux outs for external recording or connection to a PA.

That's a bummer...but I guess they couldn't include everything for the price, just think just a few short years ago the limitations we had in keyboards compared to today, so we should be happy...I personally prefer recording to external devices anyway always, so much more control and edits, etc,....Good Luck with your 950....Bill otherwise how do you like it..?

I find it strange that the 'recorder' is being used to play back drum audio. I mean, it's not really the same thing, is it? The drums are synced to the arranger, and play short patterns and fills, etc. That's not really like playing a linear audio backing...

Very strange.

That is annoying. I guess an external recorder is in order.

Was the S910 able to play an MP3 backing track, and still record, or is this an old limitation?

DNJ,

I would like it a lot - If I ever get the thing.

This delivery delay until December is tough to take.

Yamaha has so flubbed the release of this keyboard, I'm not sure it will ever be much accepted in the community.

The audio parts of the styles have been sliced and diced and looped, but still require a wave player for play back. It is not at all unusual that a Recorder/Player can only do one function at the time. Everyone wants all the functionality of a Tyros, but want to pay for a tone module - at discount of course. LOL

An MP3 player is hardly an expensive thing, these days. You can get a complete standalone one for not much more than $10.

Why have Yamaha crippled recording yourself to save so little?
