Well I finally got a chance to learn most of the button layout on my AJamsonic 76 and got to play a bit with it. All the sections are layed out very well except for the Arranger Commander which I will get to in a bit.
First I want to say "What Sound"!! I have never heard an arranger with such full and bold sound in the backing on any board before this one. I like that the styles are not too overly musical including the intros and endings. Some arrangers do over do it on that part. I feel like I'm playing with a small combo behind me. I never felt that way with any of the Tyros boards I had or the G-70. It seems more intimate but depending on the style, it could be right in your face. The bass licks and riffs really add to the backing making it sound like I have a real bassist behind me mixing it up a bit not to make things drab. The Drums are just outstanding...haven't heard a bad mix yet.
I've only used a few voices for the right hand so far and what I've heard is great in every category.
The key bed is nice - similar to the key bed of the G-70 I had a few years back.
There's a lot I still need to learn about this musical wonder since I've only touched the basics, but I'm real happy with this purchahse. My wife absolutely loves the way it sounds too.
My only real problem at this point is the way the Arranger Commander is layed out under the screen. Within the section of buttons there is no decernable spacing between each section eg Intro/ending 1 - 3 group, Key Start/Stop section, Variations a - D section, Fill then break etc. Right now I have to count over from the left or right to get to the variation and fill - break buttons which does take time. I may have to mark the variation buttons to help. I do plan to get either a FS6 or 13 pedal to help in this area when I can get a bit of cash together.
The boot up time is long, since it's loading up quite a bit of voices into the RAM. Right now it's taking a good two minutes or a bit more to fully come up. I hope AJ can come up with a battery backed memory module and that it will be user installable.
I have to say AJ has been great so far. He really got me a fantastic deal on this board. I know I would have never been able to work out getting a 76 key Audya, let alone an AJamsonic, without the deal I got from him. Since I never played an Audya without his upgrade I can't comment on the difference. All I know is that it all sounds great.
Now, if anyone wishes to share some registrations with me as song based settings in Pop, Ballads, Rock, R&B, Jazz Standards etc, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'd like to get some starting points to go in and edit if necessary. It's going to be a long time before I'll get proficient enough to pull some real nice registrations together myself. If you want to share, pull my email from my profile or pop me a message. Doesn't matter what songs, I'll use them.
I'm loving everything about this board.
Regards to all,
Vince
