Does anyone know what type of foot switch I need to control the rotary speaker effect on the KN5000? The original Technics foot switch specified is impossible to find.

Thanks,

Max

For Foot Switch #1 and 2, you can use most any foot switch that is normally closed (or one with a polarity switch) that has a 1/4 inch mono plug. The operating system does not have a software switch for polarity like some keyboards have. If you can find one, there is a four switch foot controller SZ-FC2 that can be plugged into the Foot Controller position in the back.

I don't remember, though, if rotary on/off is one of the things that can be controlled with a foot switch. I believe rotary fast/slow can be controlled for the drawbar organ.

If you or someone you know can work with wiring stuff, there is a schematic of the wiring needed for building a FC-2 foot switch about mid way through the article at http://www.home.no/gunnar-jonny/bobs/Hruby.htm

See page 161 of the KN5000 users manual for the things that can be controlled by the foot switches.

Thanks Bob,

I had found a switch that I originally used on a Casio which would change the rotary speaker speed, but required two clicks each time to do it. I'll try to find the type you describe.

I operate a set-up on our Technics KN7000
I used the foot pedals from and old Organ [Farfisa ]
The Kn7000 has provision for 6 pedal controls { the K7 has over 40 different uses that can be asigned to whatever use you want to use them for. [ I don't know what provision the KN5000 for operationg switches ]
The pedals are very sensative as they are bassically just an ON / OFF switch
I did however remove the unwanted pedals and shortened the original pedals and fitted lighter springs that return the switch function-----works extremely well and all it cost was a din Plug and a meter of wiring.

Just another idea that may interest some.

I love the control that Bob introduced; it was the same as the four pedal unit pedals but micro switches were used instead of pedals -- and I had it attached to my Kn7000.
