Since when is WINZIP not part of the Windows Utilities Package ... I tried to access Winzip in W7 and it tells me my free evaluation has expired and I have to buy it?!? frown ... Are any of you using some other free 'ZIP' software?

Tony,

I've been using this one with great success...very easy to use.

http://download.cnet.com/JustZIPit/3000-2250_4-10222609.html

I use RarZilla for opening rar. files.

Both are free.

Why do you need Winzip??? For years now the zip file format has been supported by Windows so there has been no need for a separate program like Winzip. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Compress-and-uncompress-files-zip-files

1) I thought Winzip capability was included in Windows (but it may refer to compressed folders and archives rather than making explicit mention of zip files)

but I don't really care because

2) I'm with Scott (+ Nigel?), I use 7zip!

It's just that I've always used WinZip Free ... you know, Nigel - that "old dog, new tricks" thing ... rotfl

The screens on my PC didn't look exactly like the vid, but it looks like it worked ... I may also look into the 7zip ...
thnx agn
