Personal feelings aside, what limitations, if any, are imposed on an entertainer to stay within the boundaries of good taste? I am speaking of an older general audience and a show that is always appreciated the rest of the year.

Some are bound to be more religious than others, and don't want to offend them, but don't want to put the others to sleep,either.

I just do my regular show regardless of Religious Holidays,...people want to be entertained, morals today in society are so laxed if they weren't they would hire entertainment on these days.. Next month I'm booked at a Retired NUNS facility....done this kind of gig before and I am always warmly received....people are people....go for it Bernie. I will also be doing a Big Ballroom dance Holy Thursday too & an Easter family luncheon gig.

Bernie ... Unless you are being hired to play 'Religious music' fit for the occasion, I would think that people who are Religious to the point that they might be 'offended' by anything you might play would not attend ...
as Donny says, the people there want to be entertained ...
Of course if YOU don't feel comfortable with it, perhaps you could say "no thank you" to the gig ...

I am fine with it. It is just the fact that this is an open luncheon from 11-2 PM, and some might be coming from church.

You know what? You can't please everyone all of the time, and I can't worry about a couple of devout people. I will play as usual, and go easy with the rock tunes.

Bernie – my take.

At a luncheon I would be playing background type of music and on occasion add some Christian music.

Show tunes, 2 steps, lively music at a low volume so as not to interfere with the conversations going on.

Christian should be played slowly with feeling; that will send them a message.

I had to cancel my Good Friday date because I goofed and booked it, but have to be in church instead. Had I played, I would have done most of my regular stuff and maybe added only a few appropriately religious tunes. I would certainly suggest staying away from anything too edgy...
