I just found a super bargain on a Technics KN 6500 on gumtree and picked it up on the weekend. reason why it was so cheap is because the speakers do not work at all, but everything else is 100%. when I plug it into external speakers through Headphone jack or Line outputs its fine.

was this a common problem with them?? would it be an easy fix? I have an uncle who is an electrician so I might get him to have a look at it.

I used to own the KN 6000 about 13 years ago with the KN6500 upgrade kit. it was my first ever TOTL arranger keyboard but back then I never used it to its potential or dived into much customization and editing.

Since then i have owned Tyros 2, Tyros 4, PSR S910, Korg PA800, and now the Korg PA3x. Diving deep into the Kn6500 now, I cannot believe how far ahead and advanced Technics were back then!!!!

It has full drum kit editing like what the Tyros 4 has right now... and a step recorder!!!

I reckon if it had the strumming guitar sounds like the mega voices for the styles and USB memory it would be on par if not still ahead of the TOTL boards of today.

One question I have which I cannot seem to see in the manual anywhere or online is - how can I edit an existing style? or is this not possible?? I want to go into a drum track and basically take or add to it... I cannot seem to find this anywhere.??

Thanks for reading
Nick

Nick, you need to put this post on the Technics forum.

You can edit or create new styles using the Composer. Copy the style to the composer and total detailed editing is possible including a step recorder.
