I got a chance to fill in for the ship's musician on our River Cruise. They had a Clavinova - the 409 series which I had never played before. The sound system was a Bose piped into all the public areas and the staterooms. Anyway, it was great fun and I even was asked if I might be interested in working on the ship.

I really liked the Clavinova and think I'll take a look at the new 609 series.

Way to go Deane! Those Clavinovas are good keyboards. I used them in choir rehearsal rooms for years.

I used a Clavinova when filling in for a friend at a high scale restaurant. At that time I had A Tyros2 so they complimented each other.
I feel the Clavinova was better in many ways, especially the keybed.

Deane,

You won't be sorry with the CVP 609. I originally had a CVP107, then upgraded some years ago to the CVP307. I'm very happy with the 307. I sold my Samick grand piano because the CVP keybed was excellent and that it never needed tuning like my Samick 6 foot grand did 3 to 4 times per year. If I were to upgrade again( at this point very doubtful that will happen) I'd look at the CVP series with the GP tag to it. It's the one shaped like a grand piano that you played on the cruise, that's one nice looking instrument. I don't think the 600 series have a GP model yet, but not sure about that. If you already haven't been you may want to visit Clavinova 600 Series User Group

Hi Deane, looks like a very nice instrument and the venue looks quite upscale too. Also I am glad to see that you are getting healthy again.

yes, and good to see Steve post again also ... smile
PS ... not that Steve had any health problems (that I know of), just lurking ... wink

BTW, Deanne, except for the guy standing at the bar, I would have thought you were playing in the 'Ladies Lounge' grin
Seriously, how was the gig?

Tony I read SZ but don't post all that much. Thankfully, my health is good. Amen to that since I'm not sure who would be holding up the rest of the family with the last year's issues and health problems. Right now everything is status quo. I'll give you a call within the next week when you won't be on the golf course.

Deane, I logged into the CVP forum posted the question why aren't they allowing new members.
