I'm getting more confused the more I read about this subject.
I bought a BDS condenser mic which takes a single aa battery.
When I use it, It definitely works better with the phantom power on but it has a 1/4 inch jack into the keyboard and not the three pin xlr connection.
Now, some sites say It must have the xlr jack for it to work and some sites make no mention of the jack end being important. Others say it might even damage the mic.
I know it's a cheapie but I bought it to see if the vocal side of the pa3x was worth pursuing. I can see it is. The mike is supplied with a high quality lead which I assume is shielded(balanced). A three pin connector goes into the back of the Mic.

I'd also like to know if anything can be damaged if I switch on the phantom power with this mic.

I'm not familiar with that mic, but I have plugged in standard mics with the Phantom Power on and have never had any damage to either the mic or keyboard. They tell you not to do that though.
In your case, it seems the mic has batteries for its own power, so I'm not sure if it needs the power from the keyboard. Generally, when you plug a phantom powered mic in to power, it bypasses its batteries and performs better.
I don't think you will damage the keyboard.

My lady friend who sings came yesterday so I tried the mic with and without PP. I was wrong. There was no discernible difference.
I am wondering what I've got. As soon as I can afford it, I'm going to purchase a known brand, even tho I'm very happy with the results from this mic, I hope to expect even better from a better one.

I believe that what you have is a karaoke mic. It will have a 2 3.5mm two-ring-and-tip plug and is usually supplied with a 1/4" one-ring-and-tip adaptor.

AHA Thank you beemer.
That is what it is. There is a 1.5v battery inside.
It doesn't work as well as the national mk714 that I borrowed.
It gets a bit screamy sometimes and I have to turn the gain right down.

You can't go wrong with a Shure SM58 dynamic mic no phantom power required and will not be damaged even if phantom power is supplied by the PA-3x.
